Bioorganic fertilizer maintains a more stable soil microbiomethan chemical fertilizer for monocropping

Understanding the responses of soil microbiomecomposition to various farming practices is important forselecting suitable managements to maintain soil functions. Inthis study, the influences of heavy chemical fertilizer applica-tion (CF) and reduced chemical fertilizer supplemented withorganic (OF) or bioorganic fertilizer (BF, BF = OF +Trichoderma) on composition of soil microbiome were inves-tigated for monocropping cucumber systems using a five-season continuous pot experiment. The MiSeq sequencingdata indicated that the CF treatment resulted in the lowestfungal diversity and the BF treatment resulted in a relativelyhigher one close to the initial soil (CK). The BF and OFtreatments had similar impacts on the composition of bacterialcommunity, and the CF treatment significantly reduced bacte-rial diversity. Although both OF and BF treatments had betterplant growth responses, they had less disturbance on the com-position of fungal community relative to the CF treatment.The BF treatment is more predictable than the other treatmentsfor postponing fungal diversity as the inoculated fungal spe-cies significantly (p< 0.05) affected the fungal community. Inconclusion, the combination of bioorganic fertilizers with reduced chemical fertilizer application can maintain a diversesoil microbiome in cucumber monocropping.
